Keystone Ski Resort … Fun in the Snow
The United States has many fine ski resorts, some of which are in the east, the majority of which, however, are in the west. One of the very “best in the west” is the well-known and highly-regarded Keystone Ski Resort located in Summit County, Colorado.
Visitors to this area enjoy access to three mountains, Dercum Mountain, the North Peak and the Outback. All three mountains feature many ski trails that can accommodate every skill level for those who like to ski, from the beginner to the advanced. Moreover, heavy and frequent snowfall during winter months allow resort and mountain operators to keep the trails in great shape for the entire season.
And while the weather can turn very cold, it doesn’t hamper the good times enjoyed by visitors who stay, on average, four or five nights at any of the superb lodges and short-term rental condos that dot the area.
Of course, there is much more to do than just ski when you visit Keystone Ski Resort. The range of outdoor activities available to guests is extensive. When there, you can try snowboarding … ice skating … sleigh rides … winter hiking … and, depending on which hotel you’ve chosen, indoor swimming, as well. Interestingly, summertime visitors to the Keystone Ski Resort area will find lots to do, as well. Weather in summer is warm and mostly dry … very pleasant. Visitors can spend their time hiking mountain trails … mountain biking (if you’re truly physically fit) … playing golf on world-class local golf courses … horseback riding … river rafting … and so much more.
Sound like fun? It is … lots of fun. And when you’re not doing something physical, you’ll find that area restaurants are superb and fine dining is readily available. Live entertainment is also available most evenings at local clubs and in some of the better hotels.
Superb shopping provides another element to your overall experience at Keystone Ski Resort and, while the area is set up as a resort and is away from big city “hustle and bustle,” it is not isolated. Denver is just 90 miles away and is easy to reach by car, public transportation or even by a shuttle flight.
Clearly, Keystone Ski Resort is a terrific destination if you like to ski and enjoy outdoor activities – in winter and in summer. And speaking of winter, the resort is also home to Colorado’s largest night ski operation. That’s right … you can ski on any – or all – of the three mountains after the sun goes down. And, when the sun rises the next day, you can take advantage of a “Guided Tour” that lets you get up close and much more familiar with the mountains and the overall terrain of this scenic and beautiful outdoor area.
There are many excellent ski resorts all over North America as well. Heli skiing Canada makes for a great get away from the States. Superb choices are available to outdoor enthusiasts who live in the east and want to enjoy recreation not too far from home. The best ski resorts, however, are in the west. And Keystone Ski Resort is right near the top of the list.
